Musical Moments during the Ghent Festivities
During the week of the Ghent Festivities, the Cultural Association Pastoor Du Four invites you every afternoon to enjoy a concert in the beautiful setting of St. Michael’s Church.
Discover a varied musical programme featuring mixed choirs, organ, trumpet, violin and gospel music. These concerts offer the perfect opportunity to pause, relax and enjoy inspiring performances during the “Musical Moments”, every day from 3 PM.
Saturday 18 July – Livinus Choir Ledeberg
The Livinus Choir is a musical group from Ledeberg, Belgium, founded in 1977. The choir performs a variety of genres, including gospel, Taizé songs and religious music.
Followed by a Eucharistic celebration at 5:30 PM.
Sunday 19 July – Ghent University Choir
The Ghent University Choir (GUK) has a broad repertoire ranging from early Renaissance polyphony to 21st-century choral works. The choir takes on major compositions, including Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and the Requiems by Fauré and Verdi.
Monday 20 July – Organ: Aryna Tsylianok & Trumpet: Steven Devolder
A harmonious dialogue between trumpet and organ, creating a captivating musical experience.
Tuesday 21 July – De Partiburen Ghent
De Partiburen is a parents’ and neighbourhood choir that explores a wide range of musical styles, including pop, jazz, classical music and world music.
Wednesday 22 July – OKRA Promenade Orchestra Ghent
The OKRA Promenade Orchestra performs a diverse programme including light classical music, film music, chansons, popular songs, brass band repertoire and easy listening. A varied musical journey combining nostalgia with new discoveries.
Thursday 23 July – Organ: Vessela Dyakova & Soprano: Lies Vandewege
A touching and surprising musical fusion of soprano voice and organ.
Friday 24 July – Vivente Voce
Vivente Voce is a versatile choir performing a wide repertoire, ranging from a cappella music to larger choral works accompanied by orchestra.
Saturday 25 July – Gospel Choir “From Within”
“From Within” is a fresh and inspiring initiative dedicated to black gospel and freedom songs in Flanders.
Followed by a Eucharistic celebration at 5:30 PM.
Sunday 26 July – Chamber Choir De Koristen
A versatile choir that does not limit itself to a single musical genre. Their repertoire combines classical and lighter music, often with a distinctive and local character.
Exhibition “Biblical Scenes” – Priest Georges Herregods
Alongside the concerts, visitors can discover the exhibition “Biblical Scenes” by priest and artist Georges Herregods, celebrating his remarkable artistic legacy.
